Using our words is how we share stories and help others understand and experience.
We use our words in writing, video, blog posts, websites, captions, landing pages, and so much more...
It's important where the words come from. When you write or think about what to share, does it come from your intellect or from your heart?
In order to share who we are, what we are, and how we serve others in life and in business, it's imperative that we tap into a deeper well within us to express what is trying so hard to flow from us.
Take this image of me, for example. A picture can tell a thousand words, but the story, the depth, comes from within.
Look at the image. What are your thoughts about it? What story does it tell you? Look first, then read on...
Now, I'll tell you the story as to what was relevant for me.
First, I had dyed my hair a few days before. I didn't use regular hair dye. Instead, I used henna to maintain the health of my hair.
It was a mess. Red stained my hands, and it felt like it took forever to wash out. The water in the tub just kept rinsing red over and over and over again.
Soon I realized it's a temporary dye, so of course, it's a never-ending rinse. Duh!
I hadn't had red hair in a very long time, so this was just experimental. And I think it turned out pretty okay!
Just a day before I took this picture, I had a hair salon stop me as I walked the streets of downtown Seattle.
They asked if they could take a picture of my hair because the red was so vibrant and pretty in the sunlight. I pocketed that compliment for days on end. It still makes me chuckle.
And the best part? I was with my dad that day in downtown Seattle. He had come to town from Florida to visit, and the big city offered much to look at.
We ventured through Pike Place Market, grabbed a bouquet of fresh white flowers, and rode electric scooters just to try them out. There was so much to see on a spring-turning-to-summer day in the Pacific NW.
This picture, the day after, is when we headed up to the Crystal Mountain Gondola for the best view I know of Mount Rainier. And if you wanted to, you could even grab a burger and a Coke up at the top.
Where is the mountain, you ask? Right in front of me in this image. The gondola heading right towards it. Mount Rainier, she's showing off all of her snow-peaked beauty as she stands strong in a crowd of mountains.
She towers over them all, and you can't help but give her all of your attention. Breathtaking.
You see, I could write on and on about this day, this moment, this adventure, this experience.
Our lives are all about moments, stories, and experiences.
And you know what else? So are our businesses.
We aren't here serving to stay small, quiet, or shallow.
We are here serving to release the depth of what it is we are truly transforming for others, how we are guiding and helping, so they can truly resonate with us, feel us, and know where to find us when they need us most.
It's all about knowing where to find the words when we need them.
Your business needs to paint the pictures, too.
